THE TRIM RULES ARE THE SAME FOR FOUNDERED HOOVES.BUT we will back the toe after the HGM trim. Here is Maureen’s teaching. Check out the HGM trim rules on the first page of my website. HERE IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHAT BACKING THE TOE MAY LOOK LIKE, SOLE SHOT.We are looking at the badly foundered hoof, right top, but both fronts were long term foundered hooves. This picture is already showing improvement this is after his second HGM trim. THIS IS WHAT THE TRIM LOOKED LIKE SIDE ANGLE VIEW.Same hoof. Trimming severely foundered hooves may not be pretty, But I can tell you, from my personal HGM trimming experiences, this method is amazing in helping foundered hooves heal from founder.

This is the same foot exactly 1 month apart.Take a really good look. The sole picture on the left is the foot in very dry hot weather, then the weather changed, things cooled off and we had a few weeks of rain and the sole transformed itself to be the foot in the sole picture on the right. Before June trim, before July trim 2018. The sole searches for the ground, so when a horse is living on a hard surface the sole will have less concavity. |
